Description

These Firecracker ground chicken bowls are a perfect weeknight solution, offering a high-protein, nutrient-dense meal in just 25 minutes. By balancing the heat of chili with the sweetness of honey and savory soy, this dish ensures a satisfying culinary experience. Utilizing lean chicken and fresh vegetables, this budget-friendly recipe provides a clean, protein-packed fuel source that saves you time and money compared to takeout.

Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1/4 cup hot sauce
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 cups cooked jasmine rice
1 cup steamed broccoli
1 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup sliced cucumber
2 green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula.
Cook the chicken thoroughly for 6-8 minutes until fully browned and cooked through.
In a small bowl, whisk together the hot sauce, honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.
Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked chicken and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the meat.
Divide the cooked jasmine rice into bowls.
Top each bowl with the chicken mixture, steamed broccoli, shredded carrots, and sliced cucumber.
Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. You can swap jasmine rice for brown rice or quinoa for extra fiber. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
